Solar Panel

My solar panel now 10 yeras old has the top layer of what looks like plastic film lifting in a couple of places. What is the most suitable adhesive to stick it back and prevent the film lifting over the working area.

Maybe your best bet is to peel off the old stuff and apply new - maybe self adhesive laminating film? I would be reluctant to try adhesives as, once applied, it may not clean off without damaging the panel if not successful.

I shall be watching this thread.....

...with great interest...as about a year ago...my solar panels started to exhibit the same fault..(who would believe a solar panel could suffer from uv degradation...for thats what it is).... I looked around on the web..and the only thing I came up with was a forum in the states for guys who build their own solar panels... http://www.solarpaneltalk.com/showthread.php?1969-Encapsulating-with-EVA&
...but from this realised it was not going to be easy or straightforward to achieve even if I could get the materials.. I decided to go for a "long term temporary solution"...and bought some `u`profile rubber strip from Seals Direct...applied a bead of CT1 adhesive inside it and gently slid it over the edges of the panel...trapping the peeling laminate in place..and providing a waterproof seal. So far it has `stopped the rot`...and I await news of a more permanent solution.
I suspect that the other proffered solution of using self-adhesive plastic laminate would not last long...given any sustained exposure to the sun...and would probably leave behind an adhesive residue..reducing the panels effectiveness..or inviting damage as it was cleaned off....so I won`t be going down that route..
