Can anyone advise me on where I could find a wiring diagram to assist in the installation of 4 x 90w solar panels.

Many thanks

Hoping to supply large percentage of daily requirement when we move on board and head to the med next year. Thinking of fitting a Morning star pro 30 regulator as I am unsure of the reliabilty of the latest MPPT devices. My main query is the final connection, and whether I should connect thro the fuseboard and busbar or direct to the battery bank?

Wire it so there is no chance that the batteries can be disconnected and the panels supply the boat electronics. Severe overvoltage conditions can occur before some regulators release if there is no battery connected.

It should also be fused between the battery and the regulator. Regulators have been known to burn up and cause a short. It is impossible to fuse the solar to regulator circuit as the highest current the solar panels produce is actually what you want!

The first fuse will protect in the case of the panel wiring being shorted and current flowing the wrong way i.e. from the battery.

Our setup is 330W of panels to switching type regulator to breaker then battery. Also I suggest using a single regulator handling all panels, some of them are too dim to work in groups.
