Now I know why my engine was overheating.

Raw water feed pipe to engine block. Completely choked with salt.

Block aperture. Ditto.

What next? Replacement?

Or can you start boiling the pipes to remove the salt.

Sorry this should be in PBO I suppose..

The water must be evaporating away when the engine's off, leaving the deposit. How is this happening? The pipe would need to be open to atmosphere for that to occur, I would have thought, but I am prepared to be wrong.
Just how far into the block does the deposit go? You could have a hell of a job on there!
