And your'e either casting off, cruising along, checking the gps or whatever,...and you whistle or hum a tune don't ya!...it's always the same one every time you venture out onto the water, what is it? I always hum/whistle a Cher song - (Walking in Memphis) don't ask why I dunno! What's yours???

Agree, was Marc Cohn (spelling correct, is no "e").

Cher changed the gender of the words where appropriate for a female version. Dave1258 obviously has some gender issues associated with his sexuality if he does the Cher version.

Maybe we could do a special Dave version starting off along the lines "Put on my pink suede deck shoes"

"Billericay Dickie" by Ian Dury.

Haven't the faintest idea why, though there must be some sort of bizarre mental association.

The only line with a remotely nautical theme/location is:

"Oh golly! oh gosh! come and lie on the couch
With a nice bit of posh from Burnham-on-Crouch"

But I haven't been on the East Coast since I was a kid. Downright mystifying...................

Apropos of nothing, wasn't Ian Dury a great versifier? Who else would have rhymed "Hammersmith Palais" with "Bolshoi Ballet"? A sad loss.
