Rather to our surprise (given the nature of both our employers businesses time off at Christmas is generally confined to a day or two at the most) both of us have 4 whole days off from Christmas Eve to the day after Boxing Day so in a break from long standing family tradition we're heading for the boat, pulling up the gangplank and sticking two fingers up to the world!

However ... if anybody else is around in the Fambridge area over Christmas we might just be amenable to being sociable for a bevy or three :D

We will get to the boat on the 28th for 3 days..... look for the boat that looks a bit like this....

Have one for me then 'cos I shall be seeing in the New Year with a cup of Wild Bean coffee starting at an empty forecourt whilst trying to decide whether to mop the floor or clean the toilets as my next exciting mission ... on the other hand I will be earning triple time which eases the pain somewhat :)

Most/all of the relativs live abroad.
Other half only has X-Mas and Boxing Day off work. As for myself, I start another week of nightshifts on the 27th.
So, familiy visits are out of the question.

Weather permitting (no rain), we're looking to go sailing either on the 25th or 26th (if I'm lucky: both).
Pottering about in local waters only.

We're with Erbas, unburdened by family commitments, off to boat 24th to 27th. 2 convector heaters loads of M&S goodies and Xmas feast booked in local Bangla restaurant.

A sail would be a bonus.

I hear Santa has a spare Hydranet main in the bottom of the sack. Write him a letter.:p

Santa's local representative has put a throttle on boat expenditure, so I will have to continue progressing at a moderate speed with my non exotic wind propulsion. But as I will have ice for my G&Ts I can live with that.

Yes. We will spend Christmas Day on the boat, as we have done for the last eight Christmases. The relations all accept it now - we see them at some point ovr the holiday, but there are no negotiations about whose turn it is to go/stay etc. Most years we have managed a little Christmas Day sail, and some years actually managed have a few days away and anchor somewhere quiet to cook Christmas dinner.
