Well, if jetted off at mercury by Hamble yacht services, here it is. Is this normal ? Not noticed at Hamble point where we come out. I would have thought this waste water would have gone through an interceptor drain, but obviously this is just pouring straight back into the marina… not sure about this

Same where I am but I recall reading about the possiblity of marinas having to instal holding tanks and disposing of hazard waste. That is going to make it very expensive. Good selling point for Coppercoat etc.

Good point! We have to have interceptors for all our car washing facilities, it's an expense to get them emptied but if you have correct filtering you are not doing it very often.

We wondered this also. We scraped ours of this year back to bare GRP and when the boat was moved ready for relaunch there was a fair covering of blue on the ground where she had been stood. We asked what would happen with this and they just said it would wash into the gritty yard covering.

Seemed a little odd to me but hey ho.

Interesting. Our boatyard in Holland has a special drain to that collects the runof with AF when jetblasting boats. It is pumped in a large tank for chemical waste water collection.

I bet a friendly email pointing out the issue is all that is needed to get the offenders to comply. Nobody wants to **** on their own doorstep.

Nice thought Winchy, but it was HYS staff, owners are not allowed to do such dangerous activities, there are strict regulations to adhere to do you know....:)

All boats that do not move from the berths at least once a week should be hauled out and burned. Then the A/F would be gone forever. Those of us who use the boat spread ours about a bit.
