"Opal Marine is to be announced as Legend Yachts new UK dealer later today.

In the wake of the Peters Opal collapse, Opal Marine has has taken on Peters Opal's sales sites at Chichester, Brixham and Swanwick, saving 30 jobs so far.

A statement from the company will be released shortly."

A reminder of the plot so far.

• Peters Opal (Chairman Brian Peters) goes into administration.
• Good chance those in the act of buying yachts through Peters Opal will lose part or all of their money.
• KPMG (the administrator) sells rump of Peters Opal to newly founded company Opal Marine.
• Directors of Opal Marine include one Brain Peters (allegedly)

Hey I like it. Could I capitalise an overfvalued new boat and then call in KPMG to arrange to sell it back to me for a few pence in the pound ?

well if you take the analogy literally, you, a new to the market phoenix fancier with a bit of cash take the old dead phoenix buy its name and the licence to sell phoenix eggs off the previous owner and then take a newly hatched phoenix (bought with your cash) and call it by a similar name as the old one....

anyone who placed orders for phoenix eggs from the old dead phoenix well it died, you will only get a share of what the previous owner gets selling the feather etc for wands.

hmmm......hope thats clear.

If this is still allegedly, it's not a fact yet. It wouldnt be a surprise, but until someone sees it on the Companies House website, it's conjecture.

As of today, Companies House shows two directors - Alan English and Wendy English - as well as a different person (not Brian Peters) as company secretary.

I think these have changed since it was identified as an off the shelf company so, until someone can show a "connection" between previous directors and the current ones, or they change again, i think we have to accept that there is no skullduggery.

having said that, you would think that Legend would know something about the directors to be confident in giving them the distributorship, so there must be some kind of connection with either boat sales in general, or Peters Opal in particular.

So I wonder where the English's have come from, and who is backing them, if anyone?

English, 64, developed the Heyford Manor hotel in Northampton, which he sold for £4m in 1989, making a profit of £1.5m. He and his wife, Wendy, 62, now have a £103m stake in Hayley Conference Centres Holdings. The Milton Keynes-based company has eight conference centres.

Doesn't look as if they need much more backing!

The off-the-shelf directors have now resigned. Mr & Mrs English were appointed earlier this month.
