I am so pleased to hear that those of you that went to the TVR at Henley enjoyed it. It is always a little daunting to attend such a do not knowing anyone. It is nice to learn that you were made welcome there.
You may think there were a lot of boats there. In fact attendance is about 30% down on its hey-day; hopefully it will grow again to its former glory.
I was delighted to hear that Margaret Rennie won the Concours de elegance. Well done those that picked Wight Panther. Margaret is one very brave lady and it is charming to know that sentiment still counts for something. If there is a heaven Colin Rennie will be looking down and tickled pink at such a result.

We had a great time. My daughter Sarah was invited to enter the boat handling competition by Peter Hasler.

She has always been a little nervous and hesitant about throwing the lines, but after only about 20 minutes instruction from the maestro the competition began, and they were up first.

"OMG there is a judge watching me!"

"Got it!"

Both she and her friend did enormously well. I am sure Peter's calm clear instructions helped. We were amazed at the way he was able to place his boat exactly where he wanted with no fuss whatsoever.

The team came second, but both girls want to enter again next year.

Meanwhile, my son Alex was out driving a safety boat.

He had to do a lot of shouting at ROBOs, who could not read the closure boards as they had their backs to them. Luckily, as a rower himself he speaks fluent ROBO.

They were most miffed at having to go the other side of Temple Island for a Motorboat Regatta.....

Many thanks to all those who were involved in organising the event, and a big cheer for the caterers, who produced excellent food the whole weekend.

Please bring more "Rebellion" bitter next time though. We drank it all on the Saturday and there was none for Sunday /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Byron, I wish I had had a camera when David announced the winner, Margaret's face was an absolute picture - brought tears to my eyes. she was absolutely delighted and totally stunned.
