So pleasant to have Ian here for a couple of days with his immaculate boat Shirlean although he had to double bank for one night. This was due to an administrative error by Mein Fuhrer who had failed to book the Upper Thames Motor Yacht Club in for the Friday. (you just can't get the staff).
Mike Gates was at the Beetle & Wedge on the Saturday but for one reason and another I didn't get across to take a Jar with him. Just as well really I later found out.

"Just as well really I later found out." ?????????
Look Mike is a nice bloke. It would be wrong of me to embarrass him by revealing what he was travelling in. Perhaps he was just confused or bewildered, maybe a moment of madness, Gosh! he could even been blackmailed into doing it.

Well, that restricts it to a Prius or a narrowboat:-)

Is this it ??????

Both Boatone and I have the photos, although I suspect that Boatone's came out better than mine, he is rather good at that sort of thing.

Thanks, Byron, we enjoyed our stay with daughter and boyfriend. Eileen kept a very low profile, I only ever saw her walking away!

It was good to meet up with some of the Upper Thames boats who were stranded with us in Abingdon three years ago, also Alan on Cassy who was stranded with you.

We saw Mike Gates cruising past too!

So did certain forumites who happened to be at Cookham around Sunday lunchtime.

We had a fantastic trip from Oxford to Bray Marina and met so many forumites. We seemed to be waving all the time. Oxford landing will be heading back to the Grand Union next week as my friends will have completed the ring. It was a pleasure to be on the water, no matter the vessel.

All the best

I agree entirely. In fact, I am thinking of getting a coracle as it occurs to me it would be an ideal vessel for exploring the Thames. Light, easy to carry, sleep under it, take it shopping (basket!) no draft problems, park anywhere, carry it round locks day or night, cheap licence - one could go on for ever extolling the advantages :D

Who cares if you were, heaven forbid, on a narrow boat - quite an astute episode really, given the nature of your business life :D

Tut, Tut

Photo looks as if Oxford Landing was on the wrong side of the track.

Navigating on that side is strictly reserved for Thames Resident Boaters only....
