Anything new or ........same old same old with you lot.?
Anybody daring to go more than 10 mins downstream from The Gates of Hell (Teddington) where the Dragons live .

After the crushing news that the services of Right Rear Admiral Oldgit (PDROM) Rtd would not be required to grace the QJ do,have decide to pick up my perfectly formed ball and play elsewhere.
Club is off to West India in April and Ramsgit in May,so thats a given, a trip round to Ye Thames at some point and a trip over to Calais maybe August Bank holiday look to be on the cards for us.
Some of the ancient mariners in RCC are off to Belgium and Holland for a month, alright for some eh..

There has been a lot of comment on this in the clubhouse. Many have been visiting the continent for several decades and to them its just the first stop after Sheerness.
The cost of diesel has affected many but not to the extent of stopping them going.
The latest situation has caused some concern regards not going to Benelux area but only going to over to France.

That would be my intention too, were I not having the old tub trucked down to the Hamble to avoid the Olympic bureaucracy...

With total lack of any reasonable rainfall - water going over Benson weirs on my visit to the lock repairs was less than in normal summer flows. It should have been bucketing over - then there's a reasonable possibility that none of us can go anywhere in the season.

Currently my favourite ditches are pretty well closed...

Plans for the season..

Lift out this month, outdrive service, antifoul and polish hull ready for the season.

TWYC cruise to East coast for Easter through Teddington (past the dragons), past London, out to the sea and a chance to go fast! :D

Up river cruise for June, Rewind festival for August. Apart from that who knows....

Probably try to spend as much time as possible on the water!!

Stayed on my boat last night it was a beautiful blue sky morning drinking my tea watching the ducks :)

We are going out this weekend to take the boat below Penton Hook for a clean up. Hopefully not in the snow.

QDJ and Dunkirk Commemorating Cruise in June. Not sure whether to go up or down from there. Wouldn't mind going down to the Solent for a bit of a change.

All tomorrows journies !

"Cant wait for the coming season.....now a 'seasoned' "

Its always nice, sitting by the fire, looking out the window in freezy mid winter planning all those trips to exotic places undoubtedly under a blistering summer sun.
Almost makes winter worthwhile.
Always smile when folks blather on about the sunny Med,OK for a lobster red week or two in winter suppose but its the seasons which give UK boating its edge and the english countryside in summer is the only place be.

Ode to the West Wind

The trumpet of a prophecy! O Wind,
If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind?
