Tomahawk is very weight sensitive so we are looking to travel light.
First officer is demanding she takes a whole bag full of clothes. This seems very unreasonable. Smellies perfumes and other female tut on top of that. Should I put my foot down and stop her taking so much baggage?

After 15months living aboard Lofticus and I have come to an agreement, if I buy a new bag/shoes/clothes then I have to get rid of one. has slowed me down somewhat, and as stowage is my job I can see why! :D

The Bare Truth

After 15months living aboard Lofticus and I have come to an agreement, if I buy a new bag/shoes/clothes then I have to get rid of one. has slowed me down somewhat, and as stowage is my job I can see why! :D

We had a similar agreement, old items had to be jettisoned to make way for new.

Unfortunately the agreement was poorly drafted with the result she gets something new & something of mine is taken to the charity shop.

Result, she has 3 of the 4 wardrobes & I am close to emulating Prince Harry! :(

It´s awfly tempting to be flippant, but if you´re living aboard and not happy with what stuff you have around you....................................

Mrs L. has it, put her in charge of stowage.

AFTER you have packed the really essential stuff, like rusty old engine parts, boxes of shackles without pins, prehistoric copies of YM, and all the beer.

Hmmmmm. Puts on body armour, checks helmet fitting properly, makes sure SWMBO is not looking over shoulder.

The answer is that, for a quiet life, you should ensure you have enough clothes to last for a couple of weeks plus some warm stuff for the winter. Make sure you can fit it into less than 1/4 of the available clothes stowage space and then meakly surrender the remaining space to SWMBO. Even then, there wil still be a for a few dry bags with winter clothes to be fitted in somewhere.

As for facepaints and the like, the space requirement is in a similar ratio; I have a bottle of shower gel, my deodorant and, well that's all. SWMBO almost requires a pallet lifter to shift her sponge bag about the place.

Now, don't any of you lot let her see this OK?

I have to 'fess up to having a large quantity of cosmetic type stuff, it's true.

However, in my defence (and he would admit to this) HWMBO has a far larger quantity of clothing on board than I do.....plus all those tools.... and boaty bits....and beer:)

years ago I was aboard a german liveaboard and they had a gadget that extracted the air from the plastic bag which clothes etc had been placed and then heat sealed same.

Do you want her to go with you?!
