So my beautifull wife surprised me with a 50lb thrust minn kota endura max and a new fish finder for christmas.

There is much debate as to what is the best to go for battery wise, with many suggesting buying two leisure batteries.

I fish some vast loughs and its not unusual to be actually trolling for > 8 hours in a session.

I had a nosy at leisure batteries on the halfords site, two of them works out dam expensive.

what conflicting me is my fathers best friend is a car breaker, and as a result ive had an endless supply of free batteries for our diesel runabouts for as long as i can remember,....although many suggest not to bother with car batteries.

all advice appreciated!

thanks

The only thing that has changed is Lithium is becoming cheaper, but still well over twice the price of FLA for the same nominal capacity, but of course over time more usable capacity. Trolling motors work best when actually trolling (rather than stand alone power) if you can run them of a big domestic bank on the boat, charged by the main engine and shorepower. This is the type of configuration they were initially intended for.
