Hey up Mr D! Apologies for the delay, playing catch up at work!

First off - the survey said all was well except the props need replacing / repairing.

So the sea trial........ Went very well, not being of the trusting variety (when it comes to car salesmen, boat salesmen and estate agents - all IMHO) - i turned up and hour and a half early so they couldn't start the boat before i got there.

Had a look around before departure - all seems fine, checked over the engine, all dry and sound, key in, engine turning over, started on second bite (been unused for about 4 months... so was happy with that!)

Let her tick over until she was warm, while it was doing all this, went through and checked all the inside and made sure all was working, lights, gas, stereo, fridge, engine room fans etc. Got a bucket and put some water in the bilge to try the pump, (both manual and auto) all seemed fine.

Pulled away from the pontoon, Broker said she might not pull to well as the props aer a bit "dinged" but shouldn't be too bad!

Well she took off up to 28 knots well enough for me!

Engine was quiet, hull wasn't creaking, temperature was ok, log and depth seemed logically correct, responsive, trim tabs worked well and together. Did a 180 degree turn at full speed and again no creaks, rattles whinges or aything from the hull or anything else (well maybe from SWMBO wasn't so keen!).

Slowed her down and checked over her low speed handling, at 4, 6 and 10 knots. Also cruising speed of about 15 - 20 knots and again she went where she should and turned on queue!

Was out for about an hour, played with the trim tabs in opposite positions to make sure they worked ok... seemed alright to me!

Moored her up again and made a last minute check over.

Couple of minor bits not right, but nothing critical. The VHF is so old it has a picture of a Dog looking into a gramphone on it, and is bless it destined for the Radio Shack in the sky! The Hot water system isn't getting hot, water is ok, not contaminated, just not hot! that is getting checked today by an engineer who will give me the low down!

So what does she need?

A very good clean and polish
Antifoul
Service and Anodes
Outboard bracket
VHF radio
New or Refurb props

So there you have it... think we got a deal here!

For those who don't know - it is Falcon 23 SPC, 1993, Volvo Aq205 DP, 600 hours with a nice thick documented folder filed with receipts and past surveys etc!

She is my second boat - first is / was a Fairline Vixen, now up for sale!

So here we go.... the next step in boat ownership is on its way!!!!!

Hurrah!

Craig.

Sounds great!!!
I had the same problem with my hot water but it may be a different reason to you........the V8 is direct cooled ie no heat exchanger so if you plough the bottom you suck up gravel and it lodges in the non return valve on the calorifier. Removal and a reverse flush with a hose clears it for me. It was the previous owner that hit the bottom, honest guv. Did I tell you how much duo props cost to refurb?

Hey Rich,

Well tomorrow i become the legal owner of Cholly B - A falcon 23 SPC...!

What did it cost you to get the props refurbed? and where?

I think mine has the original firdge (lift up the helm seat and there it is!) do you know if this works off shore power also... or just the battery?

Cheers,

Craig.

PS - i need to fit a GPS, will most likely fit it to the right of the chart table on the helm... will it beeasy to get power to it from there? also want to put a 12v socket near there (soemwhere!) to power the mobile etc.. any ideas as to best place?
