Ok, Ive given up sailing, I've sold my boat and I have a budget of up to £130k for my first power boat.

My first choice is a Fairline Targa 34. Apart from Val Wyatt's 1998 model, I couldn't find one anywhere within my budget.

Second choice boat is a Sealine S34. I found a few of these but I am only interested in the bigger engine boats with KAD 43's or the Volvo 41's.

I found that a year 2000 Targa with good equipment is the same price as a 2002 Sealine with big engines. Year for year targa's are about £15k to £20k more expensive.

Here are my choices. Go for a y2000 Sealine and keep £20k in the bank. Disadvantage, Sealine not as big, 1 ton lighter, possibly have more difficulty selling later, or do Sealines sell like hot cakes?

Go for a y2000 Targa. Disadvantages, older boat, engines out of warranty but it is a far superior sea boat, quicker too with its KAD 44's.

Summary questions, (sorry)

get an older Sealine (y2000) and keep and keep £20k in the bank.

Get a newer Sealine (y2002) with 18 months of engine warranty left to run.
Or
Sit and wait for a Y2000 Targa possibly y2001 Targa to come up for sale.

Im thinking of putting a 'Wanted' add in next months magazine. I would appreciate any expert opinions.

Thanks

Cliff

Don't think you'd have any prob's selling sealine S34 with the KAD43's as not many around, most have KAD32's. S34 with KAD43's good for about 36-37kts Whether the targa's worth £20K more would be up to you, but would give you alot of nice toys on your boat or a lot of boating /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Looking thro febs MB&Y ,marine sales in poole have couple Targa 34's circa2000/1 at about £134k, another 2000 boat in soton at £115k + vat and another in poole, grange international 2002 boat at about £132k, presume these prices would prob be negotiable.
