Does anyone know the dimensions of the cutlass bearing on a SO 45ds?
I know the internal diameter 35mm but need external diameter before i lift the boat out.
Many thanks!

Be careful - to my surprise the shaft diameter on my 2005 SO43DS is in mm and the P bracket (presumably made in france) was an imperial dimension!!

EDIT - info I PM to another SO43DS owner - yes I did note that yours is a SO45!! but it might be same

"ASAP Invoice dated 11 Feb 2009 describes it as Product Code 809724 Shaft Bearing Brasscase 35 x 17/8" x 140mm price £26.23.

I assume that means the shaft was 35mm dia and the P bracket was 1 7/8" internal dia and 140mm long.

IIRC there is a Phillips screw on the port side in the middle securing the cutlass bearing. The bearing is fluted on the inside I assume for water to lubricate it so I always leave a gap between shaft anode and P bracket. I drifted bearing out using a appropriately sized socket."

Drifting the bearing out especially on a P bracket yacht is not recommended as P brackets can bend or move, pressing is better. If you come across one of our bearings it is very likely it is a clearance fit bedded on epoxy where you can heat the carrier to soften the epoxy. The bearings are Yellow in colour with no metal or rubber.
