Two or three yachts have reached Snape Maltings Quay over this last set of spring tides. The first was a Dutch yacht last Friday which managed to squeeze into the space astern of the previously-mentioned very large Dutch barge/houseboat/holiday let. When I had a chat with the Dutch husband and wife it was towards LW. The boat had just taken the mud, and they had just realised that, in the absence of any ladder, there was no easy way of getting up onto the quay. In typical Dutch self-sufficient fashion the skipper was in the cockpit fashioning a rope ladder...

They were gone the next day, another yacht came and went over Sunday/Monday and berthed in the same slot. Today there was a Parker 325 in that berth where there is now a re-positioned ladder so getting on and off is much easier than it was a week ago.

It is definitely not advisable to lie alongside the old trip boat steps, the top steps look OK but the lower section is rotten or non-existent.

For anyone planning to visit Snape by boat, I will post a couple of pix taken this am to show you what to expect.

We visited Snape last week by road and also saw a Dutch yacht moored in front of the large houseboat, also a motor boat. There was not much room for any more boats...
