HI folks
I am thinking of fitting snap davits to my Bayliner 285 dont like the thought of drilling holes so close to the water though any tips on types . suppliers & the best type to fit for 2.5 mtr dhingy, also the best way to carry the outboard .

ceers all.

I have Weaver on Rafiki. Seem durable and no corrosion. If you use mastic to seal the holes there should be no probs with water ingress. Make sure you use high qual stainless steel screws, as these can rot over time, and you don't really want to lose your dinghy when bouncing over some wash/waves:)

Hi Guys,

Just bought a new to me Bayliner 285 and we are looking to fit snap davits - I was hoping you could let me know the make of Dinghy you are using and which weaver set of davits you went with.

Thanks in advance
YB

Welcome to the forum. I have an Avon tender. Good quality and durable. Not sure which spec of Weavers on Rafiki. They were fitted when I bought her, sorry.

Thanks for the quick responses and the info. Thinking of getting a HonWave 2.5M with an aluminium floor and a 2.3 Honda with the Weaver snap davits, if I do I'll post some pics.

I think you'll need more HP to benefit from the floor, and get the tender planing. Probably 6HP is more appropriate? If you only want the tende to chugg around in, and there is nothing wrong with that, then save some cash and buy a conventional flat floor tender. At SIBS, you will be able to buy tender/outboard for less than £800.

I was thinking of the Alu floor more for stability than speed - I currently have a 10 year old 3M Alu floor with a 6HP and it goes quite nicely but we really just want to have fast access to a Dinghy when anchoring etc. We are on a swing mooring with no marina facilities nearby. What is SIBS?
