Smokey Volvo md5a

Looking for advice on why my engine is so smokey. (White smoke) (increases as the revs increase -is that obvious)
Recently had an an issue with lack of cooling water it's a raw water cooled Volvo penta MD5A.
So I've had the exhaust elbow off and cleaned out,
fitted a new wear plate in the water pump and a new impella
Fitted a new waterlock on the exhaust

This had helped with getting the cooling water through but it's still smokey any ideas would be much appreciated

I had a similar problem with my md7a. Cooling water was getting too hot and turning to steam. No alarms went off but it needed fixing to avoid undue stress on the old girl. I put a Vid on my channel on how I fixed it. See link in the footer.

Thanks stu your situation appears to same as mine I shall check the thermostat

The stat was about half the problem but the coolent channels were pretty gunked up as well. Running diluted brixk cleaner on a loop will help but taking the block off isn't too tricky and is worth doing. Best of luck
