\'smart\' regulator and electrical interference

I fittted a Sterling smart regulator and it seems to be interering with oil pressure guage - needle flickers wildly in time with particualr stage of charging + sometimes needle goes right over to maximum...Any ideas on how to cure this?

Had the same problen, check to see if the equilising diode flickers with all batterys charging, if so, connect the Two earth wires directly on the alternator frame, seperate from any other earthing points, especially it its a Lucas alt, cured my fault.

Re: \'smart\' regulator and electrical interference

Your problem is not interference, it is fluctuating voltage as a result of the smart regulator doing its job. To overcome this completely you need to fit a voltage stabiliser in the feed to your instruments.

These can be obtained from a car breakers.
