I discovered on my bookshelves today a small volume, of Cassell's National Library, the 1887 printing of Richard Hakluyt's 'Voyages In Seach of The North West Passage'. Intrigued, I had a web search for The Hakluyt Society, and inter alia came across this....

That quite-intriguing gentleman's exploration and publishing society ( no longer allotment gardening - but see Ch4's recent re-run of Blackadder II - The Potato ) is having a half-price sale of many of its publications, and certainly several of them would interest some of the yottie types hereabouts. Also, I'm sure one or other of these volumes and these would make a good prezzie for some 'armchair admiral' or other....
I can vouch for 'The Travels of Ibn Battuta A.D. 1325-1354 - although he well might insist on 725-754 Hijri.
Sometimes, it makes you proud to be English.
