I need about 30 cm by 15 cm of 3 or 4mm thick Acetal sheet. Minimum 24 X 12 cm.
So far I have not been able to find a stockist here in Northern Ireland. Searching the web throws up several suppliers of small pieces in GB, but the carriage costs are prohibitive at £50+ for "Highland & Islands" .
Can anyone direct me to a more reasonable source, or has any one got a suitable size off-cut they are prepared to sell? That size or even a bit bigger will be capable of being posted by either Royal Mail or Parcel Force.
What is it for? Big packing washers for a worn metal centre plate on an older boat.
Hoping the Forum can come up with the goods once again.

I just made some large packing washers for a plumbing job using a kitchen cutting board from Sainsburys home department it is physically similar to acetol and does not compress under load cost £2 for approx 250x300 x 4mm. Think I will buy a couple more as they will make good bases for mounting small components on bulkheads and engine bay etc.

Chopping boards are commonly LDPE (Low-density polyethylene) whereas acetal is HDPE (High-density polyethylene). In practice both have similar densities and resistance to solvents, although HDPE is somewhat tougher and has better heat resistance. For most applications of the type the OP describes, HDPE may be preferred, although there isn't a lot to choose between them.

Acetal is not polyethylene of any density.
It is POM, a much harder, stiffer plastic with much better machining properties.

PE is fine for lots of things, but acetal is better for others.

Lots of ebay sellers.
Direct Plastics used here.

The board I used can be sanded quite smooth and when used as a washer it did not compact so it is a dense material but may not machine as well as a pucker engineering type .

Jim if you PM your address I will send you the size you mentioned also if no good you can cut your lemons up on it so its a win win situation.
