Small outboard

HELP I've got a Mercury 2.5hp outboard. The water jacket has split on the outside. The engine will actually run with water and exhaust blowing out of the cylinder jacket, but I want to fix it.
Does anybody have a small oputboard, mercury, mariner, Tohatsu, or any of the others which all use the same engine where they have b*******ed the engine for a different reason than a hole in the block, even a siezed one would do, because if so I will make a suitable offering to the RNLI or other charity if I can marry your ruined engine with mine.

Before you ask why I don't buy the part from Barrus, be aware that the replacement half block, plus gaskets comes to more than the discounted price of a new engine.

Why did I let some sod steal my Seagull?

No chance of repairing it with metal loaded epoxy...or even the normal stuff...or even glass matting/hardener etc ?

OK, it'll continue to corrode inside, but would get you going until you find another block.

Took in a drowned Tohatsu 2.5 the other day, crankshaft on the way out, rusty bearing, goes well apart from that, where are you?
