When we travel in the Car, motor home or Caravan with our Honwave T38 IE 2 Sib and our Tohatsu 9.8 hp 2 stroke outboard I have wanted for many years a good strong bag that is waterproof to put the outboard in. I have searched for ages and only ever found very poor examples.
The other day I stumbled upon Christmas tree bags on Amazon and for £15 I took a punt. This is what I ordered. It arrived and I was quite amazed at the quality. It is very strong, Has a main handle and two carry handles at the end that are also very strong. It has an internal lining that looks like it will retain any oil or a little petrol that might leak out of the carbs (If you don't run them dry of course).

My 9.8 hp Tohatsu 2 stroke short shaft fits but you cannot get the last bit of the zip done up because of the outboard handle. It will still be most useful however as it protects the outboard and indeed the car or caravan etc that it is in and will I am certain stop any smells from the engine as you drive.

If you have an engine smaller than a 9.8 Tohatsu 2 stroke it will certainly fit and for £15 why not have a punt.

Have you tried DucksBack covers?

Ducksback waterproof full Engine outboard cover suitable for 7-12 HP Outboard motors : Amazon.co.uk: Sports & Outdoors

As a follow up I an now making use of the bag and I can honestly say it is one of the best things I have bought for boating in ages. It makes the 9.8 hp tohatsu 2 stroke very easy to carry for 2 people each holding the handle at each end of the bag. Also when you put it in the car it just slides along and of course will keep any smells from the engine at bay

I’ve just added one to the list in case they come back into stock. The have bigger ones in stock.

I bought the bigger one as well. They are incredible quality. The larger one is brilliant if you were going on a big trip towing the rib. You put stuff in the big bag and then put it in the rib.

The smaller on gets over a number of issues that the Sibbing community have:

1) Stops smells and leaks from the outboard
2) Now very easy to carry with 2 people...... No need for a trolley
3) slides into the boot very well
4) Protects the outboard
5) Hides the outboard from prying eyes

All for £15

I’ll definitely buy a smaller one for my Suzuki 6hp even though when I take it off the tender if only gets stowed on the bigger boat. I like things in ‘bags’ rather than risk things getting caught in the prop. etc.
