Iam about to purchase a gen set for Broom 39.considering Fischer Panda 4.5 ND.Any body good /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif or bad experience of this gen set. Any body recommend any other make similir size

I used to have a 4KVA fischer panda for @ 6 years - worked fine, always started etc

Yup, I have one, excellent if installed properly. Don't think you'll find a better small one. It does everything as stated on the tin, so to speak.

Very pleased with mine, but be fair, don't over load it.

Just make sure you get the freshwater cooled version. I have the raw water version and it is a pretty crude piece of kit. There is a thread on this somewhere but it was silted up and corroded through lack of use when I bought the boat. I spoke to the FP people at the boat show and they told me they would not produce a raw water version by choice but people keep demanding the cheapest possible option. All that said when it runs (and it does since FP serviced it) it is reliable and simple. Make sure you warm it up on no load and give it a couple of minutes off load at the end before you shut down or you can cook the capacitors (advice from FP - not my opinion)
