I would appreciate advice on suitable 6 metre cruisers for a couple of pensioners, one a wife who after years of dinghy sailing has become very nervous of any boat that heels significantly and quickly.
Thanks in advance.

Some years back I had a lot of fun in a Westerly 21 which was the later version of the Warwick. She had a nice wooden interior and sailed pretty well. I often saw 6.5 knots on the log. They have good headroom, though the heads compartment needs to be entered sternfirst! Any of the smaller boats are going to be more tippy than a heavier one, but the Westerly had some decent bits of ironmongery hanging underneath and stood up to it's canvas well. Transom hung rudder which is a good feature and good thick layup in the hull. Sidedecks are a bit narrow though.

is 6m a constraint due to berth costs, or budget. what sort of cruising do you want to do?

Most small boats tend to be a bit tippy, as weight detracts from performance.

Cinder 22 ft
fine sailing boat, stiff & sea kindly, draught approx 4 ft.
enough room below for week-ending for a couple ( boom tent would help with more room for stoage).
built like a brick out-house.l
same designer ( John Westell )as the 505,Nova 27

6-7 metres is part berth constraint but also sail handling limitations. Cruising will be limited, mainly river or very limited coastal day sailing

How about a vivacity 20?

Bilge keeled weekender really, but plenty of room for two. Not enough for two plus my teenaged daughter, though!

Good, stiff, easy to sail weekender and not a bad seaboat.

I happen to know where there's a nice one for sale in your area. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

PM me for details.
