Do not buy a KA, possibly the worst car on the market for rust
It isn't "possibly" the worst for rust, it is "definitely" the worst for rust. It is the only modern car on the road today that needs body welding.

The trouble with advice like this is that unless backed up by stats, it can put people off perfectly good cars. I have a 1.0 corsa, it's had two teenagers learn and drive. It's been to Romania (sons gf is romanian) via France, Italy, Austria, Hungary and more. It was cheap as chips, (relatively) affordable insurance cost for a 17 year old boy to drive, costs hardly anything to service, has never nissed a beat and is reasonably frugal with fuel for its vintage (2000). The only thing that's happened to it is the front bumper plastic undertrim has fallen off.
From my sample of precisely one, I can thoroughly recommend a 1.0 corsa.
