Hi All,

My new Cheetah 7.6 hull is ready for collection next week from the IOW. :):D:cool:

I can only find boat transport companies with massive trucks and lowloaders.

Do you know of any companies who could collect a lightweight cat (about 1 ton) on a flat bed trailer/ jeep, and deliver to Ireland?

Get Sean to trailer it to mainland and put on a flat rack container in Portsmouth. most freight companies would then be able to deliver as general cargo.

Thanks, but the problem is Sean has just sold his only boat trailer...........he was actually going to deliver it himself!!

Have a look in the back of Practical Classics magazines or any of the kitcar mags, there will be a dozen or so there either with a trailer or a beavertail truck. Four years ago I called half a dozen adn they were all really reasonable. One chap I phoned in Huddersfield, to bring a car from Rochdale to Cambridge one Friday afternoon, car bought on the spur of the moment and the first thing the chap asked me was did I want a VAT receipt. I ummed and ahhed about it and he said, "OK, as long as mnowt goes wrong and there's nay problems, it'll be £150 cash, if we have any problems then I'll put it through books and insurance and it'll be £200 + VAT". It all went like clockwork and he drove "over 'tut hill" as he termed the Penines, and had the car loaded before I got there.

WOW! A real beauty. What is her beam?? She'd be a Real Head Turner on the inland lakes of Ree and Derg. Has she being given a name yet? Happy future cruising.

Hi Firestone,

She's a serious piece of kit, designed for commercial inshore fishermen, Customs, harbourmasters and survey vessels.
If a rib is equivalent to a lotus 7, the Cheetah is a rally mk2 Escort.
The gap between the hulls acts like a giant shock absorber, fishermen i've talked to say she flys like a magic carpet at 15kts and above, even in a lumpy sea.

Most important it'll fit in a standard shipping container. 25' by 7'8" beam.

I'll be building a permanent lightweight canopy, probably in aluminium or ply.......

Hoping to ship to the west Indies in a container, then on to Florida and the ICW, maybe Hawawi and Tahiti..........who knows where. (at the dream stage!!!)

Great idea. I'll have a look.

I used boat-mover - www.boat-mover.co.uk for a move from Wales to the South coast a year or so ago. Small family firm with flat bed trailer towed behind a Discovery. Excellent job and highly competative on price. Suggest you give Francis a call on 01276 469407.

Thanks a million, that sounds exactly what i'm looking for, and it's on the route to Ireland via Holyhead.
