What's your biggest small boat surprise?
The other day here in Auckland I saw what I though must be a Buchanan-type design, maybe 30-32ft with a German flag painted on it's self-steering windvane. I thought, crikey, that's on the small side if it's genuinely sailed fron Europe. Then I got closer and my perspective corrected and it looked even smaller than that, maybe 26-28ft. Then yesterday by coincidence I bumped into the skipper in person and he confirmed it a bloomin SCOD, yes a 26' South Coast One Design. And he's sailed singlhanded from Europe on his world cruise. He's young too... well about my age anyway!
