I am considering antifouling with copper coat. I phoned them and a very helpfull gent suggested old antifoul be removed by slurry blasting. No one is going to fire s@'t at my wee precious boat. can someone tell me what slurry blasting is ??

You need to speak to LJS his boat has been covered in s**t for years.../forums/images/icons/laugh.gif Anyway he's just had it slurry blasted so might be able to give the definitive answer as to the particular type of s**t!!

I know a few people on here who could perhaps talk to it, to see if it falls off /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif maybe that would be a bit less messy, or has it got to be physical stuff /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks hlb, most of it's come from your engines.

Slurry is like a wet sand blast to remove old antifoul and/or gel coat. Take a look here

Hi Derek - I had it done on my boat last year as the patchy antifouling was looking a complete mess and we were going from 6 months/ 6 months out to 12 months in so we wanted to epoxy first. Its expensive to slurry blast but we tried scraping, chemicals etc and it was just too time consuming
