Slow varnishing

I hear that varnishing even small parts of a boat can take many, many months. An acquaintance frinstance is planning to implement a varnishing progam for a 30 footer which has mainly a wooden rail around but which seems will take at least SIX MONTHS to varnish. Is this a record?

Last time I had a race with him, down the Sound of Islay, I watched him slowly varnishing into the distance - astern.

My thoughts tumbled in my head, making and breaking alliances, like underpants in a tumble dryer when first I read this post.
It hurt the way your tongue hurts after you accidentally staple it to the wall when I finally realised the post was directed at my good self.
The realisation came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free cash point.
I'm hurt to be thought of as a slow varnisher - I may be slow, but I am very thorough - as I hope Dear Heart will testify

I think you ought to consider not varnishing Dear Heart anymore, and give her a clothes allowance instead.
Are you loyal to any one type of varnish, and does its viscosity affect your speed of application?
