thinking of launching my boat above oxford and camping as i head for lechlade----any recommendations for launch sites/campsites/pubs----thanks lenten

There's camping at Eynsham Lock and Pink Hill, but they are probably too close depending on what time you aim to arrive

The Rose Revived at Newbridge is quite nice, free mooring if you use the pub. There's also charged mooring just above the bridge (I've not used it)
I think the campsite there is caravan only, but might be worth a call.

Rushy and Shifford locks also have camping
The Trout at Tadpole bridge is nice too :)

There's a campsite at Radcot bridge...iirc the swan pub runs that and the moorings which they charge for

There's another quite close to the river at Lechlade..the name eludes me.

thanks again---oxford cruisers not answering their phone this afternoon-----regards lenten------------------edit because i dialled their fax number

No problem :)

Thinking about it there are two campsites at the Lechlade end

Bridgehouse campsite is not far from the town centre over the bridge and there's another just downstream by the Trout at St Johns Priory (a little scruffy last time I stopped for a pint)

The Trout campsite is just a field with a slipway, single toilet and a tap. It was fine for us in a motorhome, you would need to rough it if you were in a tent.

I'd go for Bablock Hythe, good parking and starting point to go on up.

Not so much these days.
There are a couple of boats stored in the car park, they run a reasonably successful B&B and although the pub doesn’t seem as busy as it was 30 years ago (when it was the nearest thing we had to a nightspot) it does a reasonable trade.
The last few times I’ve been past the car park was full.

Not sure I’d class it as secure either, but I guess that depends on the car being left there ;)
