Slippy Dubarry Ultima sailing boots

On a recent sailing trip my Dubarry boots appeared to lose their grip, making the foredeck a dodgy place to be. I cleaned the sole's with neat washing up liquid and a scourer which seemed to help a little but on the next sail they were just as slippy as before. The boots are about 4 years old but have not had a lot of use and the soles are almost like new. The deck was not a problem for anyone else.
I had to replace my expensive, warm, waterproof, sailing boots with some cheap rubber soled sandals for the trip home!
I have sent an E mail to Dubarry but have not yet received a reply has anyone else experienced this ? is there a simple cure ?

my old Shamrocks are in for new soles as the sub sole`s disintegrated to powder. cost £60 sent via the UK office in Chipping Norton

I've had similar experiences culminating in rather an embarrassing/frustrating race when I'd put them on not expecting to be nominated as bowman. The usual solution is to wear them around town for a bit. Walking on tarmac just roughens up the surface a bit. Can be combined with a pub crawl with the rest of the crew if necessary. Failing that, just use a bit of sandpaper.

I will rough the soles up a bit if I don't get a better solution from Dubarry (who have still not replied). I must admit I don't normally use the boots away from the boat to help prevent premature wear.

I had the same problem and my e mail to Dubarrys complaining got no response.

I consider them dangerous.

I tried roughing up the soles with sandpaper but no good. The soles have just gone hard and have no grip.

Both my wife and myself have reverted back to using other boots. She is using her 13yr old Gill rubber boots and I have a pair of Henry Lloyds.

In my opinion Dubarrys are trading on an old reputation that they no longer deserve as most other makes of sailing boots are better and cheaper.
