I have just looked up my profile and it would appear that I have been contributing since 2001 and have been boating on the Thames in my own right since 1980 and before that, as a whippersnapper on my parents boat since 1959.

I suspect my "posts" have significantly reduced over the last year or so as I find little about which I now wish to contribute. I periodically get sucked into discussions and later usually wish I had kept quiet.

Recent agressiveness from various other contributors I dislike. There is no reason for this. Boating on the Thames is our hobby and in most cases a love. The forum should be an enjoyable offshoot that allows other similar enthusiasts to benefit from discussion. We all get enough hassle from our work environment.

I am fortunate to be taking early retirement shortly and we shall be taking our boat to Holland and France for 2 years. Whilst retaining a keen interest in the Thames I shall be neither benefiting or suffering, from investment or lack of it.

I do hope this forum manages to avoid a steady degradation. Current indications do not seem good to me.

As I mentioned previously (somewhere).....as a newbie this past year, I suspect the descent into Lounge-like acrimony in here is a symptom of river-withdrawal during the winter.

Couldn;t agree more though: bloomin' shame as this forum has been a real pleasure for me during my first year on the water and a source of some brilliant advice........and Cuchie's wit.......:D
