Slight frustration from manufacturer

I have a small niggly problem which I would like some advise on please.

I am currently changing some of the electronics on the boat and have chosen to use manufacturer A.

I called them and asked for a little technical support as to which products I need . They said that they don't do technical support, but their UK distributor does. So could I call B.

So I call B, and they are more than friendly. However their prices are at least 30% more than a rival C.

I am frustrated in so much as I can only really get support from B, but shouldn't feel as if I should pay such a premium for it.

Suggestions please?
 
Technical support costs if b is the only one to provide it it is perhaps not surprising they charge more. Perhaps though they may do a deal for support which they charge for as it is used then you can buy from c and gamble on not needing support. There are no free lunches.
 
go back to 'B' say how helpful they have been,and you would rather deal with them, but tell them 'C' is much cheaper, ask if they can match, if not you will have to go to 'C'
 
If the electronics from supplier C does what the electronics from distributor B does and they have tecnical support and are friendly as well, then that is your answer.
If the stuff from B is imported I would point out that the Pound has risen by 15%.
Mind you I tried that the other day at the BMW dealers and they appeared disinterested.

And ask if you buy from C, will you be able to receive support from B as the main disti for the products.
 
You should change your selection to someone who does their own support!

This problem you are facing will not get better after you have given them your money.

With the exception of Standard Horizon that's right. The experience there is kind of odd and feels like being passed to a separate organisation. They are, however, passing you to the UK Yaesu support which is Standard Horizon and they are very good indeed and based in Winchester.

+1 Standard Horizon support is top notch, nothing too much trouble. Helped me sort problem linking various products from different suppliers.
 
It's not garmin btw.

I have all my nav equipment from garmin and the support is amazing.

This company make batteries/ inverters/ chargers and are originally a US company, although do have a uk base.

I think I will try pointing out that the competition is cheaper and ask them to price match
