The gypsy on my ancient Simpson Lawrence manual SL500 windlass recently suffered further tooth stripping damage when the anchor got caught round a rock in a shallow Mallorcan anchorage. I'm returning briefly to the UK next week and am looking for a welder in the Southampton area that might be able to weld new teeth onto the remaining stubs. It's a tricky job as the gypsy itself is made of cast iron.
Alternatively if you know of anyone with an unused one lying around please let me know! It's a large windlass taking 1/2 inch chain.
Thanks, John
