Skirt on the foredeck...

Has anyone come up with a better, cheaper option to sail wheels?

I know from other boats some times they work, some times....

Would need 4 pairs I think so expensive mistake if does not work.

Hitting the guard rail aft does not flick the head sail over .

Constantly "Skirting" the foresails with just 2 is a pain...

Having seen the post about drain pipe on bottle screws on another thread it got me thinking if there was another way...

Check you get the stainless ball ones and your lifelines will go through the 'ole.

Tack slower, give the winch monkey a chance to get the headsail across before it fills on the new tack.

Hmmm I like them, particularly as guard rail wires are bit saggy... Use a couple of there (can any one find cheaper?) and kill to birds with one stone...

Our tacks are never quick a pair of running back-stays see to that.

The problem is all our head-sails are cut low to the deck so unless near head to wind they catch.
We do sail the boat into the wind and try flick it over but are finding its easier to go forward...

Depends which ones you get. Some of them (the cheaper ones unfortunately) and the most commonly available ones (Ie the Plastimo ones for example) area waste of money. The Harken and Rutgensen ones are great but difficult to find and expensive....

Or have a High-Cut Jib made and ti willbe clear of the gardwires.

Mobos often have skirt on the foredeck and it never seems to cause complaint.

Then I found out the post was about boring stuff.......

Luff up quickly so the sail comes inside the guardrails, sheet in and bear away.

You might also consider putting a patch of stickyback on either side of the sail, where it touches the stanchions, as protection.

They are only £4.50 ech. How cheap are you thinking?

Its if they do not work that bugs me to easy to do on a boat, that looks like a good idea and its not that expensive.... Fine if it saves the problem, if not....
