hello

im a newbie who is, in February, planning to buy a Nordhavn 55.

i am busy collecting tickets at the mo. Have my level 2 powerboating and booked onto my coastal skipper next month.

i am planning in early February to sail to Turkey, where I plan to base myself permanently.

Not sure whether people would be interested in such an opportunity, but was wondering if anyone with Nordhavn experience fancied a job sailing the boat with me to Turkey and to educate me on the ways of the Nordhavn?

I would be willing to pay £2000 cash for the privilege, together with food, beer and a flight back to the UK from Turkey.

pm me if anyone fancies the experience.

cheers

bob

Bob, welcome the forum. I’m not aware of any Nordhavn 55 owners on here, but happy to be proved wrong. I have a good friend who had a Nordhavn 62 for many years and now owns a 47. We spent a day together on a 55 a few months back here in Spain, he actually helped move it from here to Italy earlier this summer. What is the name of your boat?

If you are really stuck for a crew next February I will be happy to help, I will talk to my Nordhavn skipper friend and see if he too is available. We are. Not professional crew so would not want payment, the experience would be more than enough. However, February is not the month I would choose to make a long voyage, weather is likely to be against you, but it is doable. . I assume your boat hasTRAC stabilisers, as most Nordhavn's have them fitted? I have the same stabs on my deFever, they really do make a huge difference in rough weather.

PM me if you want to talk some more. Have a great trip, and enjoy your lovely vessel, lots of folks will be very envious!

You don’t say where the vessel currently is? A delivery from US west coast is a bit different than a pootle through the med.

Just one of the many questions which occur - have you investigated insurance - insurers may be funny about Biscay in Feb.

Mark T (ellessar on here) spent a lot of time on a Nordhavn 62 Demi try to the end with new owners and doing instruction.

He’s knows the boats inside and out abd woukd be an excellent choice
I will pm you his number

My insurers had no objections to my boat traversing the bay of Biscay in January/February for moving my boat from the UK to the South of France.

With a Nordhavn you only have to insure the boats that won’t get out of its way:)

Hi Bob. I live in Turkey. Please let me know if you need any assistance about Turkey. I will be glad to help.

Just out of idle curiosity, is it actually a 57 (title) or a 55 (post content) that you are buying?
They are very different beasts, the former being (imho) much better than the latter.
