James

What is the cruising speed of your boat? Have you got up to date charts, is the boat reliable/ well used? Spares?

How many days can you allow for in case of rough sea? have you a plan?

Sorry for all the questions but it is just some of the questions I would ask If I was doing the trip 1

hi tom,
she has just been moved to hull from naburn marina where i bought her.
she spent all her life on lake windermere.
the engines are twin 250 hp hino`s just been fully serviced and run sweet as a nut. everyone has commented on how well they sound and run.
her top speed is 25 knots.
we have a new garmin 2006 gps. we would like to have her in ipswich by tues next week. but if not poss then lowestoft. prefer calm water but would have to put up if seas became rough.
hope this helps.
regards james.

Hi James,

That looks like a fair old trip! a quick look at the chart and I think its about 145-150 nm. ?

The boat has a top speed of 25 knots, but I don't suppose that you will average much better than about sixteen knots, taking weather and sea conditions into account. So unless I'm mistaken that will take about 9 hours at sea! quite a trip for the inexperienced! Anyone on board experienced at all?

Its possible I could help, but it all depends on when you want to go, what the wx is like and if my work load and her indoors permits!

Regards Barry

Re: to be nice or helpful ?

Current weather in your sea area
Fri/Sat 6-8 (server gale 9 latter in Dogger and all other areas North of you will send huge swells your way for days to come.)
Sat/Sun 6-8 rough to very rough.
outlook- 5-7 occ 8 decreasing 5-7

early hours Monday looks best but I think you would enjoy more if you can wait for more settled conditions.

I really hope I am Wrong and if you do go I hope you enjoy it.

Sorry I don't expect to be popular with this post, but I don't create the weather.

Your boat isn't call "Lady of the Lough" by any chance? If so, I was moored up astern of you at Naburn Marina a few weeks ago.

Having seen your earlier post I am intrigued to know what make of boat?
Not too many 45 footers with total 500hp will do 25 knots.

They are really good boats.
I am a fan and I owned one for 4 years.
We did some sea work 110nm in one leg a couple of times .
I still feel even with a boat the size of yours you need to select good weather for your first few trips.
Too many boats go up for sale after one poor trip.
