Hello Alex, planning to be at your barbe on Sat. along with a couple of other boats from HYC. Weather permitting of course.

Ted

Hello Ted, hope the weather is ok and every one can come, I sailed into Winteringham last weekend it sounded like there could be a few coming from the humber.

Thanks for your reply Alex, yes, I heard today that you had visited last weekend.
What do we need to know about your entrance, buoyage etc.

Ted

if your coming from the north when you get to the southern end of skegness make sure your about 1/4 mile off the beach you should be in 6 - 9 meters of water depending on what state of tide. keep this approx distance of the beach and after approx 3 miles you will see the DZ post (not a mark for the channel but a good land mark) you will also see the first starboard buoy which is a large plastic one.

if your early on the tide anchor off the entrance and wait for a boat to come out called Floozy it a cobra 700 he will be using the call sign Tern he will be on channel 6 so please make sure your radio is on this channel from 2 hours before HW. Floozy will then show you the way in please follow any instructions he gives or John Casey gives call sign Tern who will be on the bank giving berthing instructions.

The channel is very well marked so no problems should be encountered. If you go to our website a chart can be down loaded although from 2008 the channel has not changed much if anything the entrance is a little further south. There are now more beacons that have repalced some of the buoys and you need to keep a boats length away from all the marks as they are all on the top of the bank. You also need to be aware of the strong cross tide in places especially along the first section of buoys.

I would expect you to be making your way in from 1.5 hours - 1 hours before H.W. (same time as Hull)

I hope this is of some help any more questions feel free to ask my number is 07969 882640
