I am sourcing a second anchor for my 22ft Marcon. There is one anchor on board but I am after a second one for saftey/confidence reasons - simple question - what size anchor should I be looking for?

Biggest and handiest you can stow away ...

It's no good saying 6kg, 10kg this and that if you end up with a lump that cannot be put away sensibly. Also its no good identifying a neat stowage - only to find the anchor is a piddly little thing not worth carrying.

Mine is a large fishermans ... folded and stowed under the port fwd bunk ... it has about 8m of chain and then a strong non-floating heavy warp attached. BUT - it is not my choice - it came with the boat and to be honest - only ever needed once and it did the job. I get it out once a year if its lucky to check shackle etc. ....
The guy who sold me the boat years ago - gave the reason he picked Fishermans - it wil bite in hard ground and even do something in rocks / weeds etc. that others wont. Plus he wanted a design different from the Plough on the bow !

6Kg is all you need . . . but I would go for a 10kg high holding power anchor if you have room for it.

Spade, Oceane, Rocna, Delta would all be good choices. Delta is the cheapest.

This is nearly twice as heavy as you need, but still easily handled. You will have TOTAL faith in this once it is set and will sleep soundly through absolutely anything.

Isn't diversity wonderful. If you follow the tips here you might end up with a 10kg anchor as a kedge for a 22 footer or a bower for a 36 footer!!!
