Anchored in Monestary bay, warning!! Very noisy disco/club ashore, every night, until 0500 or even later, dont know if this has been mentioned before, but if you want a quiet night, do not anchor here, I'm here right now and its horrendous.

Just think of the free entertainment!!!!! Seriously, I can sympathise having spent two nights in Preveza right next to a disco (the second night we had ear plugs) but could feel the vibrations through the hull.

The scourge of the Med ?

You have my my sympathy. I've often wondered what the locals think about these clubs. There seem to be several in and around every Greek harbour and they all go on until the wee small hours. Cant be much fun living near the harbours.

We wont be staying another night!
Its about time they came under the same rules as Ibiza, where it is forbidden to have loud music, outside, after midnight and its enforced.
This place is not near any residences, so no complasits I would think. But I take your point about living around some harbours, maybe they put up with it because its their only income, queit in the winter.
Anyway, monestary bay is off our anchorage list now, pity its a lovely spot.

Been like it for years, Colin. There is a similar one at the German hotel which overlooks the "Gunk Hole" anchorage between the islands. That is why a lot of people only use Mourtos in the autumn.

Cheers,

How much does Englander draw? We go aground in Sagiada (at 1.95) in the middle of the harbour. Can squeeze in against the wall or one berth off on the port side as you enter (which is, itself very narrow).

We draw 1.5 m, but would anchor out behind the stone breakwater. Being 17.5 meters, bit tight in the harbour.
Thanks for the heads up!

Sayada

CScott we either anchor off or tie alongside to the left(seaward side of the entrance) plenty of water but not much to tie up to.The entrance has been widened but I still wouldn't risk going inside at our length.

I think that Rod Heikell does comment on the 'waterpark' and noise. That being said it would be a lovely anchorage without the noise.

Porto Heli has been similarly blighted in recent years by the bar "Rebel". Year on year they seem to have increased the volume (and depth of the booming bass). Whereas I could kind of understand if they're busy but one particularly bad morning at approximately 5AM I stuck my head out of the hatch to see about 5 people in there with the music on full chat.

I do know that the locals have been complaining but the owner seems to be a chum of the mayor and apparently enjoys special privilege including his very own mooring spot on the quay...

Anchored last night at Saiyadah, peace! only boat out at anchor. Great fish and seafood in tavernas and very reasonable prices! Off to Ay. Stefanos today!

I have survived both Sivota and Prevaza with a good nights sleep, simply by turning the cabin fan full on. The noise cancelling quality is almost to good to be true, the steady noise is far more endurable and a good nights sleep is ensured.

I met an American couple in Navpaktos last year who said that they both sleep with noise cancelling headphones on at night when in Greek harbours

OK if you can sleep flat on your back I guess :)

Actually the noise never bothered me I was knackered so didnt hear it until I got up.
