Penton Hook - hardly touched the Thames! I know your 14 day exchange licence (for those registered above Allington) is a little limiting. Even so the non-tidal Medway allows little cruising beyond Allington! You should try the proper Royal River to Oxford!
Safe journey home!

We don’t have a McDonalds in Teddington, far too posh.

BUT we did have an old Skool Wimpy! Proper sit down job. That’s said I have not been in it for 30 years despite walking past it every day.

I think you’ll find PH was just one named stop over, not the limit of travel.

The untold tale and lots of money.
The Arrival.

One boat lost all its electrics as we approached Teddington and then his steering pump failed. 4 days sourching new bits. In PH.
OG boiled his starter battery. Faced with paying Thames piracy prices cobbled up a bodge using one of the leisure batteries. 2 days in PH.
6 boats unable to get back to civilization due to manky weather in esturary. Lots of days in PH.
One boat with burnt out starter motor. 2 days at Hampton Court.
One 30DS dropped off at PH for brokerage.
One Sedan 36 dropped off at PH for brokerage. and one very nice ? Broom 44 purchased.
One Broom 33 sold, when a prospective buyer flew from Ireland to Windsor and went for a ride (actually up to Boveney) and shook hands on the deal. Its going to be used on the Shannon.

On the the trip back.
The Broom over heated off Gravesend and a boat with a pair of those awful VP complicated supercharger / turbocharger nightmares lost an engine in Sea Reach and had to limp home at 6 knots.
OG did have good time and got as far as Windsor, hired a couple of those little boats, also stopped at PH and Runnymede.
Did confuse several boats when leaving Windsor due to temporatily forgetting which side of the river we should have been on.
On the way back down ,did manage to squeeze in among the eight wide beam barges and the odd narrow boat clogging up Hampton Court moorings , fro quick lunch.
£500 quid seems to have mysteriously vanished in pubs and resturants.
Sterling service from several lockies and a very warm welcome indeed at Penton Hook Clubhouse.
RCC. Bringing life "n" cash to the Thames. :)

It did briefly stop raining as well.

Nice picture of the escape route from the non tidal bit.

I actually have an incredible fondness for the non tidal Thames but this year have not bothered to venture below Old Windsor as I know down that end it's gone a bit wrong. Did get to the pretty end though. Lechlade and all that.

Might have another run up there actually as have another two weeks off.

Currently on Temple lower layby as the public power is not working and neither is the hand wind option.

On arrival back at club first question from first person we met was "Where have you been ?" followed by " Thought the Thames was supposed to be in chaos" overcrowded moorings, no water , all locks either unmanned or no lockies.
This forum is read by the the wider boating public as well as just those based the Thames.

Only took about six attempts and much swearing to register our arrival at Hampton Court where as the young lady collecting my £8.00 at Windsor was a simple pleasure.

One lock keeper noted my somewhat "heavy" arrival at a lock layby which resulted in a fender floating in the lock cut.
Insisted on recovering the thing and returning it ,as we waited in the lock.
The young lady at Teddington was very patient indeed while four boats made a real mess of entering and making fast in the lock at the crack of dawn.
