....... And about to meet Apollo and Co. At Starbucks for a coffee - though I doubt he will offer to pay.
Just witnessed a hire boater evade a nights mooring fee by saying he only arrived this morning and was leaving shortly - aren't people barstewards :(

Steve must be getting relaxed in his old age - I tried that - "we're moving off NOW" to no avail. Having just stopped for "urgent" shopping, we were allowed to get away with a half priced fee.

The most expensive pint of milk I've ever bought.

The other side of the coin is that he and I have had several chats along the way - he's as committed to the River as some folks here. Always exchange toots when we pass through.

Always accept that I'm gonna have to pay steve. I don't mind tho, as his rates are reasonable and he is a thoroughly nice chap. Have to confess to trying to evade the council mooring fees in regatta / festival weeks. I will stump up my £40-50 on the first day, but as far as I'm concerned, that's enough for a weekend, thank you. Henley council take the right royal pxxx during these periods, and if I move off after paying my more-than-St kats fee, I lose the mooring!!

Reading that back, I'll clarify a little!! I USED to try and avoid them. Now I pre book with srb as he's cheaper, friendlier, better views and my mooring is reserved if I pop out for a pootle.
