A strange state of affairs.

Ryan Bane the american boyfriend of missing Sarm Heslop hired Ghislaine Maxwell's attorney - who once helped clear another boat captain accused of manslaughter and later acquitted in 2019.

It is particularly strange that Bane is not a suspect nor person of interest in the case, despite the media attention that the 44-year-old Ryan Bane has drawn for failing to cooperate with authorities.

Instead, Bane called in a lawyer and afterwards refused to let police search his 47ft catamaran, Siren Song, where he and Ms Heslop were staying aboard.

If one has nothing to hide and wants to find out what happened one's girlfriend whom one allegedly loves, why would one not let the boat be searched and have every possible avenue fully investigated to try and find her?

Surely his 9 hour delay in calling the US Coast Guard has also raised official eyebrows.
Why didn't the Police call the Coast Guard there and then, when he reported her disappearance?

He does not appear to be a calm character, since his he was jailed for 21 days in 2011 after leaving his now ex-wife Cori Stevenson bloodied and with a chipped tooth following a row.
Miss Stevenson, also apparently told police, her husband had been violent to her before.

Now it is understood that he has left the USVI and sailed off in the catamaran.

To where Cuba? Or some other port with non-extradition treaty with UK or USA?

It certainly appears to be a rum do. ?

You may have your suspicions and I have mine.

What say you?

I don't know much about US law but if British police had any suspicions about whether a crime had occurred on board a boat in British waters then they would be all over the boat no matter what the nationality of the skipper and whether he/she liked it or not. If the skipper resisted in any way, they would spend a few nights in the slammer.

I agree that there is an unpleasant odour. But unfortunately the reporting that I’ve recently seen has been the Daily Mail - hysterical is an inadequate word to describe the hyperbole employed. The DM reporter approached Bane whilst on the beach and questioned him. He responded with “no comment”. MRDA.
