We were next door but one to it. Have watched it decline over the last four years.

Local rumour was that it had been donated to a charity or something like that - are boat sellers a charity?

I am not suggesting this is the case and im only basing the numbers on the ones above

But if the boat is really worth £30,000 but because its for charity it raised £100k asking price which is donated in full does that mean PM can use £100k as a charitable gift = £45k off next tax bill = £15k better off than if he sold teh boat for £30k?

Also would teh same apply to EBY? Can they say sales commsion at 10%+VAT = £12,000 and use that in their accounts as a cost, thus saving 20% ish corporation tax = sort of £2,400 sales income = What they would approx get of the boat sold for £30k?

I reckon it's worth way more than the sneering 30k suggestion. How much did JellieEllie spend on Erizmor & that needed several grand spending just to lift it in the water & it had been standing 10 years & the interior wasn't a patch on this one. You may pick up a wrecked MFV of that size for 30k but not one as well fitted out, in commission & to be painted before you buy it.

I am kind of with you on this one, however please please do not treat a Dickens Class motor sailer by well respected builder as MFV conversion. Whoever wrote the script knows squat all about proper boats and should stick to Fairline/Princess/Sunseeker stuff. Regardless of the blurb this is a proper motor sailer never intended as commercial vessel hence quality of fit out, and not to be confused with the junk from the North West. Comments regarding machinery equally misleading, vessel has twin Foden FD4 motors NOT FD6.

As to value therein lies the rub, should be worth around £50K, however two issues would worry me..

Double diagonal construction, this needs a real competent survey, repairing even small areas of soft timber is big ££.

Foden FD4's likely with SCG gearboxes. No parts availability for engines or gearboxes, let alone finding tec who understands the engines. Do not get me wrong I use a Foden FD6 as reference engine on my dyno and being a stroker is a crowd pleaser as well, however engine for diesel geek. If the vessel had a pair of Gardner 4LW's with 2UC gearboxes would find a ready market.

A handsome capable motor sailer in the right hands.

Thanks for that, I don't know the Dickens Class, but it really did look a quality boat despite the patched up, part done exterior paintwork. As a raggie, it's the sort of MoBo I might aspire to if I had deep enough pockets to run it & keep it nice.
