Single Burner Curry

Alternative: I go to Lidls. Buy 2 cans of chicken curry. Put in pot, heat and pour over boiled rice. Great - in my old Corrie!.

Had to give up when I came to the turkey fillets...don't have no fridge or freezer on my boat and those won't keep for more than a few days surely?

I like to make a good curry at home, freeze it at take it with us, from frozen it will last around 3 days in cool box/fridge.

Much easier to make it at home and then I don't risk finding coriander seeds rolling around the galley for days afterwards /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Don't know if you can still get it, but the 'Bedsit Cookbook' used to be the best help for the one burner hungry student. Later on in it were some recipies for 'advanced' cooks with two burners.IIRR, the last chapter had a few hints on seduction.

Cooking in a Bedsitter by Katherine Whitehorn. Apparently back in print.

One question for Nathan - as you stirred the rice into the curry anyway, why cook it separately? I'd be tempted to throw in one scoop(*) of rice and two scoops of water and let it cook by absorbtion over 10 minutes or so.

(*) A scoop is actually an empty meat paste jar that seems to hold 80g of rice. Works for oatmeal as well.
