Hi all,

A kindly reminder about the protocol we like to exercise here on links in signatures.

a) one link only please.

b) no direct links concerning boats for sale

c) commercial links are tacitly allowed (in fact they contravene forum rules but if you are subtle about it we will exercise a certain use of Nelson eye patch).

d) we ALWAYS expect reurn links as a common courtesy -- if you cannot link to http://www.ybw.com (or you can choose one of our magazine sites instead if you prefer) from your site then please leave the link off your signature.

Also, while I am about it the standards expected of the forum with regard to posting rules are the same for signatures, so please no abusive or obscene terms or links or graphics.

Am aware this has got a bit out of hand of late, so will post these in the forum rules and also in the FAQ section as a reminder.

Thats a bit chim'ish isn't it. In the T&C's it says no advertising, yet your allowing links to commercial enterprises. Bit of "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours".

Re: Signatures and links

Well, the fact is that we haven't been jumping down people's throats about the increasing number of commercial links in signatures, so to do so now would involve quite a bit of heave-ho.

I quite like to see them in one respect -- namely that it is easier to understand where the poster is coming from.

That said we also do keep an eye on those with commercial links lest it appears that they are posting frantically purely to up their hit-rate!

Kim you should be " Head of E.U. Regulation Interpretation U.K."
we might then get more sensible rules

Re: Missed your vocation!

You should have been in politics. That U turn was faster than any in The Commons!
So if I take an ad out in one of the mags can I have a link to my business as well?
