I have a Simrad RD68 VHF radio and the cabling to the microphone has perished.Any direction as to where I can get a replacement(even if it has to include the mike) would be appreciated.

When I had problems with a mike on an old vhf I discovered the standard CB radio mike plug fitted, perhaps the same will apply to your radio

I also bought a CB mike plug for mine.
The pin configuration is different to the RD68...... not that that means you wont be able to get a plug to suit.

But if the old plug is usable can you not find some suitable cable from Maplin and rewire. Or is it a molded on plug ??

FWIW I dont think a standard CB mike would work with mine ........ The radio is designed, like the RD68, to also operate with an optional telephone style handset. When the hand set is in use the speaker is disconnected, but i notice this feature is switchable on the RD68. There is a link between two of the fist mike plug pins of mine to connect the speaker when the mike is plugged in.

I only know about this because I was making a dummy plug to fit in place of the mike so that the radio could be used for listening only.
