Have a sick TP10 and amd considering ordering an ST1000 as a matter of urgency for our forthcoming Azores - Ireland trip.

Does anyone know ifd the ST1000 fits on the same tiller pin as the TP10, and if the cockpit socket is the same in terms of either size or distance?

(Too much to hope really . . . )

Hi Nick

I have the ST1000, but I'm not up at the boat till next weekend.

The slope of the Vega ruddershaft complicates the calculation, but I ended up fitting the mounting socket near the aft edge of the cockpit seat, mainly because I don't like making holes in the GRP. This position gives more power, but less stroke. Works OK, but then I don't use it a lot.

I could measure the pins, but suspect that you'll already have made a decision by then.

I'm sure that you could find a user in the marina, or is Fairwinds the only boat of your size?

For what is worth ST100+ Dimensions

Have a safe trip.

The cockpit end pin is ~9.5mm diameter on the ST1000/2000+ (Probably started out at 3/8"). The tiller end pin is 1/4" diameter with the end turned to a rough ball.

Both the TP10 and The ST1000/2000 should be fitted ~18" from the rudder post.

Make sure you can get any necessary push-rod extensions when buying the TP. ST2000 allegedly better built than the ST1000 (faster, too). Some discussion here

more discussion and photos here - particlarly Fireball's photo of the tiller pin (on bracket under tiller , but otherwise can be set into top of tiller)

Hello Nick.
You might be interested in replacing your TP10 with mine. I have a brand new one from last year. It has hardly been used and is pristine. I am giving up boat ownership and crewing instead. If interested ,make me an offer I can't refuse!
Cheers
Frank.
