Simrad S12 Log does not like getting wet

The damm thing works in fresh air but when fitted into hull fitting no reading on display. Slipped the boat and impellor spins freely. Its been back to B & G twice and returned a ok and so it is in fresh air. Any clues (no its not back to front in the tube) as to whats going on /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Silly question, perhaps, but does it get far enough down the tube, so that the blade tips are clear of the hull fitting?

If it works perfectly well off the water then there is something preventing the impellor from turning when it is in place - I assume you've tested in-situ but out of the water? If so, then check the hull for obstructions.

Thanks gents but it is clear of the hull and should work but dont. I am wondering if its a problem with the magnets not being powerful enough once immersed
